For me, 2021 started a bit rocky. It started with the worst case of depression I have ever experienced but I was determined to not let it get the best of me. You probably know all about my experience from My First Year with Seasonal Depression and recently you have learned the things I put in place to battle this depression on my post Things That Are Helping Me Cope With Depression. So it was only fitting to set the tone for 2021 as accountability. Because in order to make and maintain change, accountability is a key foundational item to make sure you can look yourself in the mirror. Too often we lie to ourselves so much about everything relating to ourselves that we actually begin to believe it and we cut that shit out. accountability noun Save Word To save this word, you’ll need to log in. ac·count·abil·i·ty |…
30 Minutes In The SunMy therapist told me that every day it is sunny, I should go outside for 30 minutes. She explained that I should take the time to go outside, and that a busy day should not keep me from feeling the sun on my skin. We already do not get enough vitamin D, so try to get as much of it as I can.According to Healthline, “Studies have shown a link between vitamin D deficiency and depression. Family, it’s that time of year again. Despite currently being in a pandemic, some of you will be traveling to see family for the holidays. This is some of the best eating we get to do all year. Whether it is friends’ events or family events, the holidays are a time to fellowship with the people you love and even some people you are supposed to love. With that being said, there are some shitty downsides to this time of year. You know the questions and pressures about dating, your job, and overall about your life. I hate it and I KNOW you hate it too. My favorite holiday greeting is “you’ve gained weight.” First of all, saying “you’ve gained weight,” “when are you going to get married,” or even “when are you having kids” is the shittiest way to greet someone. And there is no exception to this, whether it…
So this is my fourth week working from home. For many Nashvillians, they did not see this coming the way that I did because my entire family is in California. Most of them in Oakland experienced a Shelter-In-Place before any other area had even heard of it. I knew what was on the horizon but like many of us, I was not prepared for what was coming the next few weeks and it is taking a toll on me mentally. Oh, and all the eating is trying to take a toll on me physically lol. All, and all, I was desperate to find something to make my life feel normal again.. well as normal as it could feel. After a week or so at home, I started to experience chest pain, it felt like someone had kicked me with two feet in my chest. Now, I didn’t have any restricted breathing…
