Why This Matters
Every month, we make it a point to support at least one Black-owned business in our city. Not just because We are Black and want to see our people win (although, yes, that too), but because we know firsthand what it means when someone chooses you. Black business owners face unique challenges, limited access to capital, underrepresentation in high-traffic areas, and often being overlooked in mainstream media or “best of” lists.
So every time you walk into a Black-owned shop, book a service, or post about their work, you’re helping change that narrative. This month, we wanted to highlight three incredible Nashville businesses that are not only Black-owned but also innovative, creative, and 100% worth your time and money. Whether you’re planning a date, picking up flowers, or grabbing drinks with friends, these spots have you covered.
Let’s get into it.

Why Supporting Black-Owned Businesses in Nashville Is So Important
Supporting Black-owned businesses isn’t just about economics, it’s about community, culture, and continuity. In a city like Nashville, where gentrification is pushing long-standing communities out and big-name corporations are swallowing up local flavor, choosing to spend your money with Black-owned and local businesses is a radical act of preservation.
These businesses are more than just storefronts or services. They’re cultural hubs. They sponsor school events, partner with local creatives, donate to causes, and hire within their neighborhoods. Supporting them helps keep Nashville… Nashville, diverse, vibrant, and rooted.
Plus, the money you spend with them stays in the community longer. According to a study done in 2003, local businesses are more likely to recirculate revenue into the local economy than national chains. That means your brunch, bouquet, or birthday celebration helps fund scholarships, pay living wages, and build generational wealth.
When you support Black-owned businesses, you help build, foster, grow, and maintain a community that sees you, and that’s always worth investing in.
First Up: Plane Jane – A Bar With Vibes for Days
IG: @planejane615
Website: Plane Jane Bar
Plane Jane isn’t just a bar, it’s a whole aesthetic. Think mid-century modern meets Southern cool, with cocktails that actually taste like somebody put love (and premium liquor) into them. Tucked away in East Nashville, Plane Jane is the kind of spot that feels like a secret, until you walk in and realize everybody cool is already there.
This ain’t your average “let’s grab a drink” type of place. This is your “let’s take a pic in this lighting real quick” and “text the group chat, I found our new spot” kind of place.
Perfect for solo vibes, date night, or catching up with friends. It’s giving excellence.
Second Stop: The Bloom Room – Your New Favorite Florist

IG: @thebloomroom_nashville
Website: The Bloom Room
If you think flowers are just for holidays or apologies, The Bloom Room is here to change your mind. Owned by a Black creative powerhouse, this flower shop in Nashville turns simple blooms into storytelling. From “just because” bouquets to full-on event floral design, their arrangements have heart, edge, and undeniable style.
One of the things we love about The Bloom Room is how their creative floral arrangements make a statement every time.
Whether you’re buying for your boo, your mama, or yourself (because self-love deserves flowers too), this is the place. And if you’re planning a celebration, they do wedding and event florals too. Chic, elevated, and unapologetically Black-owned.
Third Pick: HunnyDo’s – Your Personal Date Night Concierge

IG: @hunnydos
Website: HunnyDo’s
Need a date idea but your creativity tapped out? HunnyDo’s is the Black-owned event planning and date concierge service you didn’t know you needed. Whether you’re newly boo’d up, deep in love, or trying to fix the vibe after a dry spell, HunnyDo’s plans are intentional, unique, and fun experiences for couples and singles alike.
What I appreciate most is how personalized everything feels. No more stressing over what to do or where to go.
It’s local love, thoughtfully curated, and run by a Black woman with a passion for romance and joy.
How to Show Support Beyond Spending
Yes, money talks, but there are other ways to support these businesses, too!!!
- Post about them: A quick Instagram story can go a long way.
- Write a review: Yelp and Google reviews help bring in new customers.
- Refer them: Word of mouth still reigns supreme.
- Show up: Attend their events, follow them online, and engage with their content.
When we uplift Black-owned businesses, we don’t just make a one-time transaction; we build relationships that sustain culture, creativity, and community.
So if you love your city, love good vibes, and love to see Black folks winning, support is a verb. Let’s keep showing up.
Conclusion
Nashville has no shortage of dope places to eat, sip, and vibe, but there’s something extra special about putting your money where your values are. Whether it’s happy hour at Plane Jane, a “just because” bouquet from The Bloom Room, or letting HunnyDo’s plan your next unforgettable date, this month, challenge yourself to be intentional about who you support.
Let this blog be your reminder that every dollar, every post, and every recommendation helps build a more inclusive, joyful, and equitable Nashville.
See y’all outside.
