traveling domestic via plane

2025 is on the horizon and it will be filled with many trips, domestic and abroad. This is my year to celebrate the beauty of home! While international trips are always exciting, I’m focusing on the unique experiences waiting right here in the U.S. From soulful Black culture in cities like Detroit and Cincinnati to the jaw-dropping landscapes of Montana and Hawaii, my travel plans are a love letter to this country’s diversity.

As someone who thrives on food, fun, and culture, I’m curating an itinerary that’s as dynamic as my interests. Whether it’s indulging in New Orleans cuisine, hiking Montana’s scenic trails, or partying in Houston, this list is packed with vibes, flavor, and adventure. So, get your bags ready—this is the ultimate guide to where to travel in the U.S. in 2025!

Now friends, I have 20 places on my list, I don’t know if I will hit them all but I will try, this is part one of the places I would like to travel in 2025 domestically.

New Orleans: Where the Food Hits, and the Vibes Never Miss

New Orleans is calling, and baby, I’m answering with a fork in one hand and a po’boy in the other! NOLA isn’t just a city; it’s a whole vibe. While most folks are hitting Bourbon Street for the party, I’m here to EAT. From powdered sugar-covered beignets at a local Black-owned shop to plates stacked with gumbo, fried catfish, and crawfish étouffée, my mission is to taste it all.

Don’t get me wrong—I’ll definitely stroll through the nightlife scene because, well, it’s New Orleans. And if you want to party like a local, I already have you covered. But the heart of this trip is the food and culture. Picture sipping chicory coffee, vibing to live jazz on Frenchmen Street, and diving into Black history throughout the city. NOLA isn’t just a trip for the senses; it’s a soulful experience that feeds your belly and your spirit.

Montana: Wide-Open Spaces and Scenic Vibes Only

Montana might not be the first place that comes to mind for a Black travel itinerary, but hear me out—it should be. In 2025, I’m chasing peace, and Montana’s wide-open spaces, towering mountains, and crystal-clear lakes are calling my name. Whether it’s Glacier National Park’s postcard-perfect views, sipping coffee in a cozy cabin, or hiking through serene trails, Montana is giving everything I need for a soul recharge. This is my chance to slow down, take in nature, and maybe even try something new like fly fishing (now you know I’m not doing that) or horseback riding. If you’re looking for peace, beauty, and relaxing vibes, Montana is where you need to be.

Denver: Queer Vibes, Good Eats, and Chill Adventures

Denver has everything I need for 2025: LGBTQ+ friendly energy, legalized relaxation (you know what I mean), a booming foodie scene, and breathtaking nature. This city is one of the most queer-friendly spots in the U.S., so you already know I’m pulling up to support queer-owned businesses. And let’s talk about the food, Denver’s culinary game is strong, with farm-to-table spots, craft breweries, and international eats that’ll keep my taste buds busy. Add the Rockies right next door for hiking and scenic views, and you’ve got the perfect mix of adventure and indulgence. Whether I’m vibing at a dispensary, dining like a queen, or trekking through nature, Denver’s got everything for a well-rounded, unforgettable trip.

Chicago: Deep-Dish, Dope Vibes, and I Deserve It

How have I never been to Chicago? Honestly, it’s giving disrespectful to me. But 2025 is the year I finally show up and show out in the Windy City. Chicago is calling me with its fried chicken, vibrant art scene, and iconic landmarks like Millennium Park and “The Bean.” I’m ready to walk the city streets, soak up the culture, and grab a slice of pizza that’s as thick as my thighs.

And let’s not forget the Black excellence, neighborhoods like Bronzeville (also known as the Black Metropolis) are rich with history, soul food, and artistry. Plus, I heard the lakefront vibes in the summer are unmatched, and Chicago seems like my type of time. This trip is long overdue, and I’m about to soak up every moment.

Cincinnati: Where Black Excellence Meets Hidden Gems

Cincinnati wasn’t really on my radar—until I found out it’s over 70% Black. Like, how did I not know this? That stat alone had me packing my bags to see what’s really good. This city is steeped in culture and history, from the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center to a growing number of Black-owned businesses. And let’s talk about the food scene, I’ve heard it’s quietly thriving, with everything from chili-topped dishes (a local staple) to cozy artsy cafés. Cincinnati feels like an underrated gem, and in 2025, I’m uncovering all its layers. Whether I’m exploring its booming art scene, indulging in some food, or checking out the nightlife, this city is officially on my must-visit list.

Phoenix: Desert Vibes, Bomb Eats, and All the Relaxation

A desert landscape with cactus trees and bushes

Phoenix has been calling, and I’m finally answering with plans for all the desert magic it’s serving. It’s been a minute since I’ve been, but I still remember being blown away by the cactus-lined landscapes, endless sunshine, and next-level spas. This time, I’m diving deeper into Phoenix’s food scene, which is packed with Southwestern flavors, farm-to-table goodness, and chef-driven hotspots.

And let’s not skip the relaxation—Phoenix knows how to pamper you right, from soaking in mineral pools to getting desert-inspired massages that’ll have me feeling brand new. I might even sneak in a day trip to Sedona for those iconic red rock views. Whether I’m hiking Camelback Mountain or chilling poolside with a cocktail, Phoenix is where relaxation meets adventure, and I’m here for all of it.

Amtrak Adventures: The Journey is the Whole Vibe

An Amtrak trip has been sitting on my bucket list for way too long, but 2025 is the year I finally hop aboard. There’s something so nostalgic and romantic about traveling by train—watching the scenery roll by and just vibing with the journey itself. I’m thinking about routes like the Coast Starlight, hugging the Pacific coastline, or the Empire Builder, cutting straight through the Rockies.

Whether I’m sipping wine in the dining car, snapping pics from the observation deck, or simply soaking up the views, this trip is about slowing down and enjoying the ride. It’s not just about the destination, it’s about taking my time, living in the moment, and turning a simple train ride into an unforgettable adventure.

P-Town: Lesbian Joy, Beach Days, and All the Vibes

Provincetown, better known as P-Town, is the gay capital of the U.S., and I’m not about to miss out on one of their iconic visibility weeks in 2025. This spot is the ultimate queer haven, offering everything from chill beach days and queer art shows to nights filled with dancing, drag, and laughter. It’s small but mighty—a place where you can connect with community, feel safe, and just vibe unapologetically. Whether I’m whale watching during the day or turning up at a drag show at night, P-Town is the perfect mix of relaxation and celebration. If you’re about LGBTQ+ joy and good energy, trust me, P-Town is where you need to be.

Houston: Black Culture, Good Eats, and a Midweek Vibe

Legacy Said So

Houston never misses, and in 2025, I’m keeping it chill but still lit with a midweek trip. This city has it all: Black culture, Black night life like no other, and food so good you’ll be licking your fingers. I’m hitting up the best eats, R&B night, and maybe even sliding through a Rockets game. Houston’s nightlife is always on point, but a weekday visit means I can enjoy the turn-up without the weekend crowds. Whether I’m vibing at a live show, exploring the art scene, or just soaking up the energy of the city, Houston stays delivering every single time.

Detroit: Black Excellence, Fire Food, and So Much Culture

Detroit is that city, it’s Black as hell, full of history, and overflowing with culture. Every time I visit, I fall more in love with what the Motor City has to offer. First of all, the food? Unmatched. Whether it’s soul food from a Black-owned spot or iconic Coney Island hot dogs, Detroit keeps my stomach and my soul satisfied. And let’s talk about the music scene. From Motown’s legacy to the current wave of artists making moves, Detroit stays setting the bar.

The culture is alive in every corner, from the murals and street art in Eastern Market to the museums celebrating Black history, like the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. It’s a city that’s real, resilient, and unapologetically itself. And I can’t forget about the vibes in the neighborhoods—Black-owned businesses are thriving here, and it’s inspiring to see.

Detroit feels like home, even if you’ve never been before. It’s a place where Black excellence isn’t just celebrated; it’s the heartbeat of the city. Whether I’m indulging in the food, catching a live show, or just soaking up the energy of the streets, Detroit never disappoints. In 2025, I’m pulling up again because this city will forever have my heart.
