Are you planning a trip to the amazing city of New Orleans, but don’t want to act like a typical tourist? There are a few things you can do to blend in while you visit New Orleans. You can ditch the tourist outfits, beads, and fanny packs. Eat like a local and avoid the very touristy restaurants in the touristy areas. But, avoiding the more touristy areas will help. And, maybe you are like me and want to party in the city without all the tourism but in a Black space.

It can be difficult to find Black spaces when you are traveling. What do you search to find the right thing? If you search “Black.. anything” you are likely to get a list of places that may or may not be Black. If you search on Google, you may have a better chance but does Google know the vibes?

Although I am not a New Orleans native, I recently traveled to Nola for New Year’s and wanted to party in a Black space, not on Bourbon. The list below is all the places I found via Instagram and TikTok. So, I wanted to make it a little easier for you to find somewhere that meets your needs. I ended up at Treehouse and had a great time. Here is a list of the places I found.
