What can you make with coffee liqueur?

Coffee liqueur can be used to make an array of delicious drinks, from the classic mocha martini to the more exotic White Russian. It can also be used as a topping for ice cream, as a sweetener in cakes, and as an ingredient to flavor a variety of beverages. It also makes a great addition to hot chocolate and other warm drinks. As an additional benefit, when added to desserts, it can even help enhance their flavor.

While it is a popular ingredient in many cocktails, there is also a wide range of interesting recipes that can be made with it. For instance, a classic recipe for Irish Coffee combines liqueur with hot black coffee and cream. An Espresso Martini, another easy favorite, calls for a shot of espresso and liqueur shaken with ice, then strained and served in a Martini glass. A delicious twist on the classic White Russian, meanwhile, can be made by substituting coffee liqueur for vodka. You could even impress anyone with a delightful Mexican Coffee.

What ingredients do you need?

Because this recipe is so simple you do not need many recipes. Actually, if you ground your coffee beans at home, you can minimize your waste by repurposing them. You will need ground coffee beans, hot water, sugar (raw granulated sugar),  vanilla (optional), and tequila (or tequila with a vanilla bean base). A good tequila is Teramana as it has a vanilla base and will reduce the number of ingredients you will need to buy.

Any coffee brand will work but I chose a bold combo of Peet’s Big Bang and House Blend.
