Being able to cop a pair of Jordan’s used to mean standing in line all morning on a Saturday to find out if you are Charlie and have won a golden ticket. That next Monday, you knew who was able to cop a pair. Growing up, it was never me, my parent’s never found value in spending “that kinda money” on shoes. I took that into my adulthood but truthfully, I always wanted some J’s. Now, that is never an issue because I cop the shoes I want when I want. Am I the biggest sneakerhead in the world, no, and no I don’t have a wall full of Jordan’s. I wear what I like and sometimes those are Jordan’s. A quick sidebar, Jordan’s are basketball shoes and I played basketball my entire childhood until college. People actually hooped in these. I wish folks would get back to hoopin in…

I started my blog to just talk about my perspective on things. I found it was hard to find opinions, issues, or thoughts based on my intersectionality. If you dont know by now I am Black, lesbian, and masc presenting. I also wanted to allow my creative side to flourish. So, I was posting on my social media about all of the things I have created. Instagram is slow but steady, but here is where things took a turn, Tik Tok. I started posting on Tik Tok and instead of posting within a niche, a niche found me. I started posting more about what life as a Black person in Nashville is like and all the things that I do. I have lived in Nashville since I was 18, and since I…

we spend too much time on the act of connecting. who we connect with, how we connect, what we connect to, and even in the ways we connect. sometimes we even wonder if we are worth connecting with, why do or don’t people connect with me, or even how can i be better at connecting. there is absolutely nothin wrong with pondering all things in connecting. in fact, it’s important but i believe we spend too much time worrying about connecting and not enough time existing.

In my past, I have confused a person’s availability with love or even the factors which result in love. If someone was available they deserved my love or my availability as well. Sometimes it would take priority over the many other key factors that make someone a good catch. Because truthfully, availability is not a factor for me. I rather place the value in someone who makes time than how much time someone has is simply available. When I learned this about myself I decided to reduce the amount of time I gave someone new in my life to determine whether I liked them or if I was attached to them. Availability only plays a part in my dating life when it comes to people who are unavailable. So, people who are available do not automatically get a relationship out of me, therefore, their availability has no bearing on whether…

It’s been a while… I have just had a severe lack of motivation to process any of my thoughts to put them down on paper. But, here I am back where I belong, doing what always seems to feel the most normal to me, writing my thoughts. I have been feeling completely off lately, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even financially. It wasn’t the same feeling I had late last year before my bout with depression kicked up. This is more of a fallen off the bandwagon type feeling. I started the year off eating healthy, working out, I might not have lost a ton of weight but I was about 15 full pounds down and of course, I have gained that back. Although I have saved more money than I had in a long time I have had to dip into those savings because I was kicking way too…

For me, 2021 started a bit rocky. It started with the worst case of depression I have ever experienced but I was determined to not let it get the best of me. You probably know all about my experience from My First Year with Seasonal Depression and recently you have learned the things I put in place to battle this depression on my post Things That Are Helping Me Cope With Depression. So it was only fitting to set the tone for 2021 as accountability. Because in order to make and maintain change, accountability is a key foundational item to make sure you can look yourself in the mirror. Too often we lie to ourselves so much about everything relating to ourselves that we actually begin to believe it and we cut that shit out. accountability noun Save Word To save this word, you’ll need to log in. ac·count·abil·i·ty |…

I want requited love in everything whether it’s in my friendships, family, or even romantic relationships. I want to know that the love and effort I put into someone else is been given to me in return. It’s one of those things that I may be foolish in believing that I can have because everyone isn’t going to be the same. Everyone isn’t going to love you how you want to be loved or love you back and they’re not required to do any of those things. But, I can set boundaries and I can ask God to remove those who aren’t supposed to be here, in my life, because I deserve what I put out. And, if I love myself as much as I put love into others I need to set better boundaries and better requirements to live in the space I give someone in my heart. I…

Manifesting, prayer, or whatever you choose to call it is typically the root of all stories because we all desire something then ask the universe for it and I am no exception to that rule. I asked God to send me a companion, someone to share my life with rooted in friendship and love. It’s a funny thing to ask God for what you want but continue to look for something else. While asking God for one thing, I was on the hunt for something different, a romantic forever person. Talk about arrogance. But, much to my surprise I then met you. You are all the things I could ever want, flaws and all. From the first time I came here, I knew it was home. Something about how comfortable the space felt made me feel as though I was made to be here or maybe that here was made…
