What is your favorite morning drink? Nashville has some amazing coffee shops and cafes. If you are like me and work from home it is nice to get out the house and work from a new space even for couple hours. I have been drinking coffee since I can remember, although when I was a kid it was mostly milk I loved the activity of it. Having a good cup of matcha or coffee just sets the tone for the day. If you are tired of going to the chain coffee shops such as Starbucks, there are a ton of places you can try locally that you can also work from. Some of these places are Black owned, some have patios, some have beautiful aesthetics. Sweetwaters Cafe (Lennox Village) Funny Library (Virgin Hotel) All People (East Nashville) Poindexter (Graduate Hotel) Bongo Java (Multiple locations) Frothy Monkey (multiple locations) Crema (Two…
Ainsworth has been in Nashville at least 7 years and has cemented itself into the culture of the city. Located in what they are now calling Aertson Midtown on 21st Ave S. near Vanderbilt University. It is one of three locations in the US including Hoboken and Chelsea. Ainsworth is perfect if you are looking for a restaurant with aesthetic and the vibes. Their decor does a fantastic job of showcasing personality that is often lacking in Nashville restaurants. You walk into the restaurant through an archway covered in faux plants and lights making you feel as though you are walking into a new city. Although The Ainsworth is not my favorite restaurant, I don’t mind going whenever someone else suggests we go. Despite having impressive menu items including gold covered chicken wings (which they no longer have on their menu), mac & cheese burger and $15 bottles of champagne…

Have you ever finished eating and then said “I want something sweet”? Yeah? I know you have because you are here with me. If you are in Nashville The Baked Bear is a very satisfying option to feed your sweet tooth. It is located on Division. The Baked Bear is a chain restaurant but it does not give you cookie cutter (all pun intended) plain jane food. This is an ice cream sandwich shop which allows you to choose from one of their signature options or build your own ice cream sandwich or ice cream cone. For sandwiches, you can choose between variety of flavor cookies or brownies. Then you choose your ice cream, then your toppings. Lastly, you decide if you want it warmed up or not. It just that simple and yes, it is THAT good. It is a fantastic sweet treat!! Just know, parking sucks and there…
Let me start by saying, I am not a huge donut fan! But, Donut Distillery may have changed that for me. Donut Distillery is located Out East in Nashville on Gallatin Ave. closer to the Main St. part. They also have a location in the Assembly Food Hall on 5th and Broadway downtown. This place focuses on a variety of mini donuts but that is not all they have. They also have coffee, wine, beer, mimosas, spiked shakes and more. They have dining indoor and outside but you can go through the drive thru if you are on the go. These gourmet mini donuts are definitely a must try from their unique spin on flavor combinations to being able to create your own, I am certain you won’t be disappointed. They have signature donuts; Whiskey Glaze, Frosted Fruity, Strawberry Lemonade, Creamsicle and more. Menu Be sure to comment below with…

Bobbie’s Dairy Dip has been a Nashville staple since it opened in 1951. Although they have had new owners this place is a must try restaurant in Nashville as its one of the few that have been in business as long as it has. Talk about staying power. They do serve food mostly burgers and hot dogs but we are here to talk about the sweet treats you can get from Bobbie’s. They serve ice cream, shakes and more. All of which are absolutely amazing. If you are a local, then you have likely been but if you have recently moved to Nashville or are visiting this is a must try location! Also, they close from November to February each year.
Finding the perfect sports bar can be tough but I have a solution for you if you are in the Antioch, Smyrna, Brentwood or La Vergne area, you should try the Thirsty Turtle. The Thirsty Turtle has a large food menu, speciality drinks, spots, DJs, private room, patio, and more. The wings and nachos are a favorite of mine and they never miss. They have specialty drinks that come in large mason jars or even fish bowls. But, most importantly, they play all of the sports, all day long. If you are not interested in watching sports they have a karaoke night and a happy hour.
Everybody may love hot chicken when it comes to food in Nashville. It is now a tourist must have that can be found in restaurants all over Nashville despite most of it being a poor attempt at recreating a local classic. So, where should you get wings in Nashville? This is a list of all the Black owned chicken spots in Nashville and Middle TN.
